Happy New Year!

Hi everyone! I’m sorry I missed a Christmas update, but this holiday has been a busy one. I am a day late but I am here to wish you a belated Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! What’s your new year’s resolution?

Well, I’ll tell you mine. Everyone who knows me knows that I have a hard time sticking to a project for more than a few days. So I want to extend my project attention span! I will work very hard to get my inspiration back. Being in art school, or anything that involves turning a hobby and love into a profession, can really be hard on one’s love for that thing. I’ve also learned that I need to find my niche and pursue it, even though it doesn’t just have to be one. I want to find my heart’s passion and harvest it. My inspirations used to be Japanese anime and such, which now I find isn’t the most amazing thing in the world like I thought in middle school. Not that I don’t like anime! But now I like particulars in each thing for specific reasons. And as my tastes grow and diversify, I need to find what and why I like something and not be hindered by prejudiced assumptions. The American market for Japanese anime and manga has been saturated with cookie cutter characters and stories with a cookie cutter style that I refuse to emulate. What I find is more of a pity is the American “artists” who copy the anime style and publish “manga” with a “unique” perspective just because they’re not Japanese. Inspiration does not equal copy.

Anyway! I would love to hear your new year’s resolutions! Oh, and I also resolve to update my website more often. ;D

Update!

So, I ended up going back to a wordpress theme, this time finding one that I could customize as much as I wanted to, by picking at the css. It’s not exactly as elaborate as I wanted it to be, but I found a wordpress application for my ipod touch! So that was the real reason for doing this. That and the fact that editing code by hand was going to kill me every time I tried especially being in school – or as you’ve noticed, I haven’t updated this entire semester. I’ve done this revamp all in one day, and now it’s 2am, Thanksgiving! I need to head to bed for the trek down to the famfam and spend times with them. <3

And so, sorry for my short post, but…

Site Update

Hi hi! Thanks for being patient with me and my gallery. If you noticed, the images after the 10th one or so, didn’t match up. It so happens I was missing a file, and mis-numbered the rest! >.< I’m not an expert on xml and I only know a bit of php coding, so when I was putting the thing together, I didn’t know what I was doing. Dreamweaver is kind of weird in the way that Microsoft Frontpage and all other WYSIWYG editors in that it tries to make your code for you, and when it’s a language it’s definately not going to automatically know, (which is anything not xhtml and css), it starts to try to tell you what to do when it doesn’t know what it’s doing itself. True, Dreamweaver doesn’t do it as much as Frontpage did, but it still does do a degree, and that’s really obnoxious.

So, the other thing I wanted to mention is that, whoa! Safari! The new update for Apple’s safari is really great. I mean, they finally put in a tab option! It was the only reason why I was using firefox in the first place; I couldn’t live without the “new tab” option being a clickable button in my toolbar. Seriously, I am not the type of person that uses hotkeys a whole lot, even though I know I should, but I really hate it. It’s completely stupid. Well, not completely, and I don’t condemn anyone who does use hotkeys, but I don’t have the memory for it past apple + c and apple + v.

Don’t forget to friend me on facebook. Make sure you leave a note saying you know me from my website otherwise I will ignore your request (I don’t accept random friend requests!) and follow me on twitter! I don’t tweet often, but I try to when there’s something important going on. Well, that’s it for today!

Website Update

Hello everyone! I’ve finally quit trying to intregrate a blog into my website and decided it would be a lot easier if I just linked out to one of my many blogging endeavors. I have a live journal and a blogger blog, besides a journal on gaia online, which don’t doesn’t really count as a blog, I guess. The one I link to in the navigation above is my live journal blog. I don’t really have any experience with the blogger blogs yet, so I haven’t really posted on them. However! Please look to my blog for sketches and current projects! I also have a deviantart, which also has a blog/journal function on it, but I don’t normally use it. On live journal, I keep my more personal entries friends only, so if you would like to real more about my personal life, then we would have to become friends first. Sorry!

Besides getting this beautiful new layout up (which isn’t completely finished but will be soon!), I have more news! My third year of art college will be commensing on August 24th, and not only that, I have the amazing oppurtunity to help my fellow peers in writing and art history as a tutor! I was reccommended by my professors as a tutor, so this is really a great honor. As school grows close, I will not be able to keep my caricature job at the Cleveland Zoo, which in essance will be over at the end of the season anyway. But I am very glad I got to meet and work under Mr. Robert Bauer, he’s such a sweet guy! I think the National Caricature Artists convention is too close to Youmacon for me to go, but hopefully I’ll be able to go sometime soon!!! :3

Dont’s forget to look at my contact page and follow me on twitter, be my friend on facebook, and find other places I hang out! Hey I need more friends for my farm!!
